This Isn’t a Real New York Fashion Week Show”? Let’s Talk Facts.

Rise Fashion Events is not a real NYFW show

Every season, as our platform grows, as our designers gain recognition, and as our events attract more industry professionals, the same tired, baseless narrative pops up:

"This isn’t a real New York Fashion Week show.”

Let’s be real: That’s not an industry critique—it’s a calculated attempt to discredit us.

And where is this coming from? Not from major fashion institutions. Not from respected industry professionals. It’s coming from other independent platforms that see our success as a threat. Instead of focusing on improving their own events, they spend time spreading misinformation, poaching talent with false promises, and trying to undermine our credibility with outright lies.

So, let’s shut that down.

Here’s what makes our show not just “real” but one of the most valuable platforms during New York Fashion Week.

1. NYFW Has Always Been Bigger Than Just One Organization

For anyone questioning what counts as a “real” NYFW show, let’s talk history.

New York Fashion Week isn’t owned by any one group. It started in 1943 as Press Week, created by Eleanor Lambert to spotlight American designers. Over the years, it expanded into what we see today—a series of designer presentations, runway shows, and industry activations that happen at the same time across different venues in the city.

That’s why some of the biggest brands in the world host shows in galleries, warehouses, private studios, and even outdoors. NYFW has never been about one central location or one single entity—it’s about who’s delivering real fashion moments that impact the industry.

That’s exactly what we do.

2. We Built an In-House Powerhouse—And That’s Making Some People Mad

Let’s talk about another major reason some industry players try to discredit us: we refuse to play by their rules.

  1. We don’t use traditional modeling agencies. Instead of outsourcing to agencies that take unreasonable cuts from models, we handle our own casting, ensuring that models are treated fairly and given real opportunities.

  1. We don’t rely on outside PR firms. While many fashion events depend on PR companies that charge ridiculous retainers, we have an in-house team of highly skilled, college-educated professionals who specialize in marketing, communications, and branding.

  1. We don’t let outdated institutions dictate our success. Many NYFW shows are tangled up in bureaucracy, gatekeeping, and corporate politics. We move differently.

And guess what? That bothers people.

Many agencies and PR firms aren’t mad because we’re unprofessional—they’re mad because we don’t need them.

And that’s why they resort to bad-mouthing us, trying to steer talent away, and throwing around nonsense claims like “this isn’t a real NYFW show.”

3. Our Platform Has a Track Record of Success

The people trying to discredit us conveniently ignore the facts:

  • We’ve featured designers who have gone on to work with major celebrities and global brands.

  • We’ve had top-tier industry professionals in attendance, making real connections for our participants.

  • Our show attracts A-list talent—from models to celebrity guests.

  • We don’t rely on ticket sales or gimmicks—our priority is the quality of the production and the opportunities we create for designers.

If certain competitors can’t say the same, then of course they’re going to try to shift attention away from their shortcomings by attacking us.

4. The Real Reason These Falsehoods Are Spreading

Let’s be blunt: Certain platforms, agencies, and PR firms don’t like that we’re winning.

And instead of improving their own productions, they resort to:

  • Spreading false rumors to discredit us.

  • Trying to confuse models and designers about which platforms are legitimate.

  • Posing as models, designers, or staff to infiltrate our shows and gather intel.

  • Using our success as a blueprint for their own events—while still trying to downplay us.

It’s predictable. It’s desperate. And most importantly—it doesn’t work.

Because here’s the truth: Models, designers, press, and industry insiders do their research. They know who delivers and who just talks.

5. The Bottom Line: We’re Focused on Fashion, Not Foolishness

We don’t need to tear down others to make ourselves look better. Our work speaks for itself.

Our designers, models, and industry partners choose us because they know we offer more than just a stage—we provide real connections, real exposure, and real opportunities.

So, to the people spreading these false narratives—keep watching us. We know you are.

To the designers, models, and industry professionals looking for a platform that actually delivers—we’ll see you at our next show.

Because while others are wasting time talking about us, we’re busy shaping the future of fashion.
